An interesting and educational attraction for visitors and local citizens alike in downtown Rogers is the Rogers Historical Museum. A visit to the museum is not only enjoyable and informative, but also free. The museum is a department of the city of Rogers and the staff and volunteers not only work tirelessly to preserve our history and artifacts, but administer many educational programs for children and adults. Permanent exhibits are always available for browsing such as a re-creation of First Street in the 1880 s featuring replicas of the original stores with authentic antique merchandise. A tour of the Hawkins House, built in 1895, with all of its antique furnishings and paraphernalia, is a trip back in time to when life was simpler. The wonderful, free, nostalgic tours through the house are available daily with a knowledgeable guide to explain the way life used to be in Rogers. Grandma's Attic provides a hands-on adventure for children and adults alike. It is a re-creation of an attic full of antique toys, kitchen utensils and other items from the past, which can be handled and explored



Rogers' leading lady Nov. 25 will mark the 100 th anniversary of the wedding of Betty Blake and the beloved entertainer Will Rogers at her family home in Rogers. In celebration, the Rogers Historical Museum has placed the exhibit 'Rogers'Leading Lady: Betty Blake Rogers'on display at the Rogers City Hall, 301 W. Chestnut St., through January 2009.
